Nathan Lawrence’s career in the hair and makeup industry spans nearly twenty years. He began as a makeup artist, getting models runway-ready for fashion shows and preparing them to go in front of the cameras for photo shoots. Nathan also taught everyday women how to apply their own makeup.

Nathan received his cosmetology license as a hairstylist in 1991. He first worked as an assistant for a year-and-a-half at 77 Maiden Lane salon in San Francisco, before becoming a full-fledged hairstylist. Nathan spent the next four years at 77 Maiden Lane as a hairstylist and makeup artist, catering to the beauty needs of San Francisco’s high-end, urban clientele. He then moved to Salon Andres in San Francisco, where he remained until 2000, until he made the move to the East Bay and began at Entourage Salon and Spa in Orinda. After eight years, he joined Orinda Hair Studio, where he works today.

Nathan has won numerous prestigious awards for his hairstyling and makeup skills. He has competed regularly in makeup and hair shows since he began cosmetology school, enjoying the artistic outlet and cutting edge expression that such competitions encourage. He has freelanced as a makeup artist and hairstylist for numerous celebrity clients preparing for special events, including Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, actress Sharon Lawrence, and singer Naomi Judd. He has also worked as an educator for Sebastian Trucco cosmetics, teaching other makeup artists the latest trends in makeup and the cosmetics industry.

Nathan specializes in hair cutting, color, up-do’s, makeup, and weddings. His clientele continues to grow, and he always welcomes new clients. For Nathan, hair and makeup is a partnership between him and the client, as he works with his clients on an individual basis to discuss their needs and together achieve their hair and makeup goals.
